Gov. Solon assures Sarangani Chamber of government’s support
GENERAL SANTOS CITY (October 31, 2021) – Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon conveys support to the new officers of the Sarangani Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. “The dynamics of doing businesses,” according to him, “is changing and I really pray that you continue to adapt with the changing environment. And, kami sa gobyerno we will continue in trying to do our part.” Solon, who joined via online platform, also led the oath taking of the new members and induction of the new set of officers for year 2021-2022. Also held during the activity on October 28 at Sarangani Highlands in General Santos City was an Invest in Sarangani virtual forum that was conducted in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry Sarangani and the Investment Division of the provincial government. GENERAL SANTOS CITY (October 31, 2021) – Newly-elected officers of Sarangani Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (SCCII) take their oaths before Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon, who led the induction via Zoom, on October 28 during the Oath-taking of Members and Induction of Officers cum Invest in Sarangani: A Virtual Forum at Sarangani Highlands Garden and Restaurant in General Santos City. The new set of officers and other members of the board were from Sarangani’s tourism industry, aquaculture industry like shrimps and milkfish, and investments in high value crops like cacao, coffee, abaca, banana, and more. Sarangani Chamber should link business sector and gov’t, says newly-elected president
GENERAL SANTOS CITY (October 31, 2021) – Newly-elected president of the Sarangani Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (SCCII) Marjun Villanueva underscores the objective of the chamber to “promote businesses, especially MSMEs in the province” during the SCCII’s oath-taking of members and induction of officers cum Invest in Sarangani: A Virtual Forum on October 28 at Sarangani Highlands Garden and Restaurant. He said the organization “should be the voice or the link between the business sector and the government in terms of programs, projects, industry promotion, and business promotion” in Sarangani. “We need investment, we need employment which are really badly needed now especially with the pandemic,” he added. Villanueva, who is from the shrimp industry in Maasim, will take lead of the Sarangani chamber for 2021-2022. Whale stranding pre-examination
MAITUM, Sarangani (October 31, 2021) - A team from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources headed by Bernadette Ann Florentin, VET II, and from the Fisheries Protection and Law Enforcement Group conduct a pre-examination plan for the stranded pygmy sperm whale at Gawad Kalinga Village, Barangay Mabay on October 26. The pre-examination plan conducted by Dr. Florentin shall determine the exact cause and to address other issues why whales get stranded on beaches. Whale stranded in Mabay, dies
MAITUM, Sarangani (October 31, 2021) - (L-R) Bantay Dagat member Aquillino Adlaon, community volunteers Fernando Jomar Agoto and Fernando Valderama assist Arianne Shane Nebran, Environmental Management Specialist II, to do the breathing exercise of a stranded two-meter weak and wounded pygmy sperm whale (Kogia breviceps) at Gawad Kalinga Village, Barangay Mabay on October 26. The Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office, Environmental Conservation and Protection Center, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources and CENRO-Kiamba immediately responded to the stranded marine mammal. Agoto and Valderama first spotted the helpless stranded whale around 12 in the afternoon of October 25. It was suspected that the whale may be sick or attacked by other large species that drove the whale into the shallow part of the sea. While the whale was still recovering from stress and injuries, the MENRO already sent trained personnel and some have volunteered to watch over the whale 24/7. Unfortunately, the whale died a day after it was rescued. Dr. Roy Mejorada of ECPC has conducted its necropsy but it was inconclusive or failed to provide cause of death. Turn over and acceptance of FMRs
MAITUM, Sarangani (October 31, 2021) - Regional Director/National Project Manager - IARCDSP Engr. Marion Y. Abella and Mayor Alexander Bryan B. Reganit sign the certificate of turn over and acceptance during the blessing and turn over of Cattleya Farm to Market Road with lined canal and FIEMCO FMR at JLC Hall on October 27. With a 50/50 percent contract, the 550 meters and 1.18 km. stretch of concrete roads were funded by the DAR-Italian Assistance to Agrarian Community Development Support Program and the Local Government Unit of Maitum. Tech4ED Center of LGU Maitum opens
MAITUM, Sarangani (October 31, 2021) - Municipal Administrator Ruben Balanag and Engr. Guilbert Sineme, Technical Operation Division (TOD) Chief DICT of Mindanao Cluster 3, officiate the ribbon cutting of the Tech4ED Center of LGU Maitum during its launching ceremony at JLC Hall on October 26. The center which includes a package of complete sets of computer units, printer, router, and IP CCTV is now officially added to the list of the Tech4ED Centers in the country. It could be a tool for the continuous learning and development of the constituents amidst the ongoing pandemic. The event was witnessed by Engr. Damian Canizar, Jr., Municipal Councilors Zusima del Rosario, Remigius Mayled, Arnold Abequibel and some LGU Department Heads. The center is located at the Maitum Tourism Office. Saving a whale
MAITUM, Sarangani (October 31, 2021) - Bernadette Ann Florentin (center), VET II, assisted by Park Chief Maintenance of the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Edgar Calderon, collects blood samples from a stranded pygmy sperm whale at Gawad Kalinga Village, Barangay Mabay on October 26. Medical aid to the whale was facilitated by CENRO Kiamba personnel with an instruction through a phone call from Dr. Roy Mejorada, veterinarian of the Environmental Conservation and Protection Center. The stranded pygmy sperm whale has a body circumference of 115 inches and 225 inches from dorsal to tail. The trained personnel from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources and CENRO also performed an intubation to help the whale to stay hydrated during its recovery period before releasing it back to its natural habitat. Unfortunately, the whale died a day after it was rescued. Dr. Mejorada conducted a nepcropsy but the result was inconclusive or failed to provide cause of death. MAITUM, Sarangani (October 31, 2021) - Engr. Hannah Grace Parcon of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) SarGen Provincial Field Office expounds the agency's vision and commitment during the Maitum Tech4ED Center Launching ceremony held at JLC Hall on October 26. Tech4ED, which stands for Technology Empowerment for Education, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Economic Development, targets to advance digital inclusivity in the countryside. The DICT through Tech4ED commits to provide access to vital information services, ensure a sustainable growth in marketing industries to create more opportunities for the constituents of Maitum to sell their products online, establish a centralized and digitized one government, access to all information online, support the local government unit of Maitum in establishing training and research hub for students, employees of government and non-government agencies and offices and other interested individuals. Hundreds of farmers benefit from new FMRs
MAITUM, Sarangani (October 31, 2021) – Engr. Laarni N. Nagal, Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator, presents the rationale of the two rehabilitation of road projects during the blessing and turn over of Cattleya Farm to Market Road (FMR) with lined canal and FIEMCO FMR held at JLC Hall on October 27. Nagal commended the efforts of the Department of Agrarian Reform and the Local Government Unit of Maitum in pursuing and finishing the project before the year ends.
